Five Rivers is a New York State Environmental Education Center with 500 acres of protected lands. The park trails and picnic areas are open year round from dawn to dusk. The Visitor's Center, with its animal and ecological displays and bird viewing room, is open weekdays from 8 a.m - 4 p.m. Many well-marked and well-maintained walking trails lead visitors along the Vlomankil, bubbling waterfalls, the edges of the 10 ponds, over bridges and through woodlands, marshes and open fields. Wildlife is abundent in the park, including whitetailed deer, beaver, coyote, mink, and other small field animals. Many species of birds and waterfowl make 5 Rivers their home as well.
Snow shoes are available to rent for a small fee at the Visitor Center during winter months. Although there are no professionally groomed cross country ski trails, many avid nordic skiiers use the trails for hours of winter enjoyment.
The Inn at Deer Meadow is directly adjacent to this wonderful jewel of nature!
